Hangar

Cover Technology activities concern the development of a specialist niche for high-tech hangars, designed to have significant resistance characteristics against wind and snow and at the same time to be highly mobile, made of large dimensioned aluminium profiles, having the important operating properties in regard to SAFETY, RE-POSITIONING AND (if required) AIR-PORTABILTY.

This account lists in brief the main requirements in the choice of a covering system which may be found in airports, in a zone of operations, in military, peace-keeping, peace-enforcement missions or for storing materials and military vehicles, such as for example:

  • Putting PLANES, HELICOPTERS, VEHICLES, MATERIAL AND PERSONNEL in a safe place, guaranteeing protection from atmospheric agents and/or damage, ensuring the minimum and simple movement of the same (for example HANGAR CAMP ARENA – 2011)
  • Availability of multi-functional structures, with high resistance against all external interventions, easy to install/take down with low maintenance requirements;
  • Possibility of repositioning the structures on other sites (even “outside the area”) without the need to purchase other component parts;
  • Easy to store and transport.
  • Different structural method depending on the destination: Parking vehicles and equipment and/or workshop area for specific equipment, sensitive material (electronic and other), general material, etc., therefore, setting up the structure with diversified accessories.
  • Possibility of creating infill zones, for example “warehouse cells”/ “office cells” or canteens or dormitories where personnel can operate in an air conditioned/heated environment or connected, by a tunnel, to equipped shelters (also those equipped with the Cover Technology system for Rapid unfurling of Tents TDR/33) already present at the applicant’s.

The mobile structures are made up of modular supporting structures, produced to be disassembled and re-assembled in a short time. Re-arraying of the cover must be possible on any type of ground, limiting any adaptations which may be required to a maximum and with the minimum of equipment available today.

The resistance characteristics to snow loads and wind can be increased if needed using the specific accessory kits, or envisaged at the design stage, on the basis of the loads required and adequate for all the operating requirements in the places of destination, with the use of special large dimensioned profiles.

Today Cover Technology with his own range of profiles (up to 160 x 400 mm), is able to build structures with a span of up to 60 metres, therefore the solution proposed is able to cover from a single vehicle up to aircraft such as a C130, a C27j, a G222, and a Boeing 737. For long laying up or repair periods, the tent is compatible with heating, air conditioning and dehumidifying systems, following installation of the two closed heads on the open doorways.

The structure is designed and realised to guarantee a high level of safety both in the assembly and disassembly phases (due to the lightness of the profiles, the type of connections between them and for the installation phases carried out on the ground) and for the service personnel in the operating period of the structure (due to the high resistance to loads and simplicity of use).
