Retractable shelters

Retractable shelters - Covertechnology.com

Retractable shelters are constructed with load-bearing structure in aluminium alloy or steel, or a combination of the two. The cover is produced using the well-proven Cover Technology special fabric membranes. Cover Technology retractable shelters have a special modular construction system that allows the truss elements to be assembled using fixing systems or bolts, to simplify all shipping and installation procedures. The Cover Technology RETRACTABLE SHELTER is a free-standing construction comprising:

  • SUPPORTING STRUCTURE of tubular metal trusses connected together by scissor-hinged bars or profiles
  • FRAME in aluminium alloy or hot-dip galvanised steel
  • FORGED STEEL WHEELS running on waterproof dual ball bearings, housed in a safety casing, with specially shaped anti-wind, anti-derailing device.
  • RAILS in hot-dip galvanised steel, complete with threaded rods for fixing to the ground
  • Cover in BLACKOUT PVC FABRIC WITH TENSIONERS, in polyester fabric coated with gloss lacquered PVC on both sides, or suitably reinforced in the points subject to the greatest wear to:

This construction solution is used above all in industry and, generally speaking, where a temporary shelter is needed and there are no particular requirements for appearance. The RETRACTABLE SHELTER runs on rails, meaning that it can be installed on straight, parallel concrete plinths. The structure can also be CE-MARKED in compliance with the EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011 standard

The supporting frame consists of extruded aluminium alloy profiles, creating a lightweight structure that withstands all weather conditions. Roofs and side walls are in flame-retardant, waterproof, very tough, PVC fabric. Naturally, there is a very wide selection of materials to suit the different uses and locations of structures. The main materials used in construction of the RETRACTABLE SHELTER are:

MATERIALS
Main structure components Aluminium alloy / Hot-dip galvanised steel profiles
Base plate elements Hot-dip galvanised steel
Cover Modular sheets of Class 2 Flame-Retardant PVC / Sandwich panels
Doors or openings, if required Folding vehicle doors / personnel doors
Supporting surface Plinths required
Anchor systems for concrete surfaces Threaded bars fixed with structural vinyl/epoxy resins

Apart from the STANDARD PVC sheeting, the cover may be in:

  • PVC fabrics with blackout treatment for sun protection
  • Thick PVC fabrics (strong cover)
  • Low-emission (silver-coated) or insulated PVC fabrics
  • PVC fabrics with special coating

Cover Technology over the years has realized several installations, please find below some related examples.

  • For a private company in Emilia Romagna, Cover Technology has produced retractable shelters in different sizes.
